John Glynn, Strategic Initiatives Manager from Washington Workforce Association (WWA) has been booked for a lunch and learn event. He will discuss WWA advocacy and policy for Washington businesses and workers.
Federal & State Business Workforce Development Programs and Initiatives
We will review the role of the federal and state public workforce system and its framework to support and serve businesses in managing their workforce recruitment, retention, and reduction needs. We will focus on publicly available workforce development programs and initiatives that are designed to assist employers of all sizes around a return-on-investment approach. Lastly, we will look at the role of Local Workforce Development Boards (LWDB) and other key state workforce partner organizations who offer workforce strategies and solutions to support business, workers and job seekers.

Presenter: John Glynn, Washington Workforce Association (WWA)
John is currently the Strategic Initiatives Manager, with the Washington Workforce Association (WWA), who advocates and collaborates with our 12 Local Workforce Development Boards in Washington State. He started his public work as the Director of Business Relations on behalf of the Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County for 8 years. Before his public sector work, he held a variety of private sector leadership positions with The Sports Authority, Bank of America, Pinkerton and Securitas USA. He has many years of experience in business operations management, human resources, risk and fiscal management.
He is SPHR certified, and his SHRM volunteer work includes serving on two state chapter boards (LWHRA and Seattle SHRM), along with USERRA (DOL/DOD) work with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). He holds a business degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He has a passion for music and currently plays in an 80’s cover band. He lives in Bothell WA with his wife and has two young adult sons.
